PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle board having an excellent strength, dimensional stability and surface smoothness even with a light weight. SOLUTION: The particle board is obtained by hot press molding a mixture of many particles 1 and an adhesive 2. In this case, as the particles 1, particles having a specific gravity of 0.2 or less is used. With such a constitution, air gaps among the particles 1 are reduced at a compression time. Then, the particles 1 are surface adhered to the other adjacent particles 1. The particles 1 themselves are highly densified mainly near adhesive surfaces (contact surfaces of the particles 1 with each other).
