PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the image quality despite of keeping the same display resolution. SOLUTION: The vertical resolution of an original image stored in an image drawing buffer is doubled in comparison with that of a display image stored in a display buffer. Then a bilinear interpolation is applied to the original image stored in the image drawing buffer to generate the display image, which is stored in the display buffer. A home television receiver displays the display image stored in the display buffer in the noninterlace mode.
