PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media contents managing device which can efficiently erase desired media contents stored in a storage means. SOLUTION: This media contents managing device has a first storage means (4) storing segments of media contents including animation image information, an index generating means (3) generating index information based on segments of the media contents, a retrieving condition specifying means (3) specifying a retrieving condition for retrieving segments of the media contents stored in the first storage means, and a managing means retrieving segments of the media contents stored in the first storage means corresponding to index information being applicable to a specified retrieving condition, and erasing all or one part of segments of the media contents from the first storage means.
