A memory card (110) comprises a memory (1415) for storing encrypted content data, a license storage (1440) for storing at least part of license information distributed by a distribution system, a plurality of authentication data storages (1400.1, 1400.2) for holding a plurality of authentication data for authentication by a plurality of public keys (KPma, KPmb) common to the distribution system, and a switch (SW2) for selectively transferring the data from the authentication data storage to a device outside the memory card according to a request from the outside of the memory card (110).
