PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing an oxazolidine compound which is a raw material of optically activeβ-amino alcohols useful for production intermediates of medicines, etc., and to obtain a new oxazolidine compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing the oxazolidine compound represented by formula (1-1) has a process of reacting aβ-amino alcohol represented by formula (2) with phosgene or a phosgene equivalent and the oxazolidine compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein, R1 denotes a 1-6C alkyl or a 7-20C aralkyl; R2 denotes a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-6C haloalkyl or a 7-20C aralkyl; R3 denotes H, a 1-4C alkyl or trimethylsilyl; R4 denotes a 2-8C alkynyl, 2- trimethylsilylethynyl, a group represented by CO2R5 or the like; and R5 denotes H or a 1-6C alkyl).
