PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably compounding hinokitiol and its metal complex in the amounts sufficient for exhibiting their functions into an aqueous preparation by a less-expensive process without losing the characteristic properties of the aqueous preparation. SOLUTION: An aqueous emulsion containing hinokitiol and/or its metal complex, and a surfactant, that is, an aqueous emulsion containing hinokitiol at a high concentration in which the concentrations of hinokitiol and/or its metal complex in the emulsion exceed their solubilities in water.
