Production of a fiber optic light guide consisting of a bundle of light guiding fibers comprises inserting a layer (4) of a powdered finely ground or pasty separating agent as intermediate layer whose melting point lies above the softening point of the fibers and that of the glass sleeve (1) used in the process. Preferred Features: The separating agent is an inorganic material, especially graphite, Al2O3 or MgF2. The softening temperature of the fibers is 460 deg C and the softening point of the glass sleeve is 490, preferably 525, especially 530 deg C.
