PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably machine a material to be cut having high surface hardness and lower inner hardness than the surface hardness at a final point of machining, while suppressing a reduction in a service life of a tool. SOLUTION: In this cutting method, a tool T is allowed to cut into a final point in a depth direction of a worked portion at a specified speed, and when the width of a cutting edge is narrower than the width of machining, the worked portion is machined in plural times by repeating the action. The movement of the tool is stopped at the final cut-in point of each time, while a component 1 (material to be cut) rotates several to tens times. Thereby, even if the hardness of the material to be cut is decreased at the final point, the generation of chatter can be prevented.
