METHOD AND DEVICE REDUCING PICTURE DEGRADATION OF DISPLAY PICTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a method or a device reducing the picture degradation due to afterglow of the phosphor of a picture display device in which a PDP(plasma display panel) or a CRT(cathode-ray tube) is used does not exist in the past. SOLUTION: This device is constituted so that after a video input signal is subjected to an inverse gamma correction (2), the ratio β of the afterglow amount of light emission of the phosphor to be leaked from a picture which is displayed one frame before into a current picture is multiplied substantially to the video signal of one frame before (5), (6) and the video signal obtained by this multiplication is subtracted from the current video signal (3) and a picture display is made to be performed by using the video signal obtained by this subtraction.
