The upper part of the mechanism (174) includes first and second branches (175,176). The first part (176) is free to pivot about the lower link (194), and the second part (175) carries a cam surface (171). A roller (173) is in close contact with the cam. The movement of the upper link (174) w.r.t. the roller causes the pivoting of the lower link, separating the second contact (74) from the first contact. The operating mechanism (38) for a circuit breaker serves to separate two electrical contacts (74,66), and includes a lower operating link (194) acting upon one of the contacts.
