PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a large crew space section by minimizing an engine room. SOLUTION: Two propulsion mechanisms 3 and 4 are installed in a hull 2 and are each provided with a variable pitch propeller. Speed reducers 16 and 17 are connected to the propulsion mechanisms 3 and 4 via short and straight main spindles 14 and 15. Two small main engines 19 and 20 (21 and 22) are connected to the speed reducer 16 (17) via clutches, so that each of the propulsion mechanisms 3 and 4 can be driven even by one main engine 19 or 20 (21 or 22). Use of the small main engines 19 and 20 (21 and 22) enables miniaturization of the engine room 6 and securement of a wide crew space section 5. Since wide space is secured within the engine room 6 even though the engine room 6 is miniaturized, stairways can be installed in two locations as escape paths from the engine room 6.
