PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reflection-type liquid crystal display device, securing a high opening ratio which is original in the reflection type liquid crystal display device, without impairing its manufacturing efficiency and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a first film which covers a channel part of an active element and forming a first recessed and projection part and a first contact hole together with an insulating film directly above the first film, a second film having a second recessed and projection part and a second contact hole on the first recessed and projection part and the first contact hole, respectively, and a pixel electrode electrically connected to the electrode of the active element via the second contact hole and formed on the second recessed and projection part.
