PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ghost eliminating method, with which a defective phenomenon called a ghost can be avoided irrespective of the degree of skill of a worker, and a side space halftone forming device. SOLUTION: This ghost eliminating method has a band region setting process for setting a plurality of band regions extending vertically by dividing horizontally a machine plate at predetermined intervals, a pattern area calculating process for calculating the pattern areas of the band regions on the basis of machine plate data, a difference pattern area calculating process for calculating a difference pattern area, which is the difference between the pattern area in an adjacent band region and that in this band region, a side space halftone pattern area calculating process for calculating side space halftone pattern area to add to respective band regions so as to bring the difference pattern area within the predetermined range, a side space halftone arranging process for producing the side space halftones having the side space halftone pattern area and then arranging them to the corresponding band regions and a printing process for executing printing with the machine plate with the arranged side space halftones. Further, a side space halftone forming device, to which the method is applied, is employed. |
