PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boring machine for a boring construction method, and a starting method therefor, reducing cost arid shortening a construction period for advancing pipe burying work by shortening the length of a shaft, and suppressing the leakage of slurry from a slurry pipe to the shaft in connecting a hydraulic mechanism part to a boring part. SOLUTION: This boring machine 10 is formed into divided structure of the boring part 2 and the hydraulic mechanism part 3 connected to the rear end of the boring part 2. The length of the shaft is thereby shortened, burying work of a Hume pipe H is reduced in cost, and a construction period is shortened. In connecting the hydraulic mechanism part 3 to the rear end of the boring part 2, the slurry pipe 5 in the excavating part 2 is closed with a water stop valve 53 fixed to the rear end of the slurry pipe 5, so that slurry hardly leaks to the shaft from the slurry pipe 5. As a result, a work site is prevented from being soiled with slurry, and impediment of smooth work is prevented.
