PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object specifying device which enables anybody to specify an object that a user wants to know. SOLUTION: For example, the user directs the indication direction of the device to the object. Consequently, an azimuth information acquisition part 13 acquires information regarding the direction wherein the object is present. A position information acquisition part 12 acquires information regarding the position where the device is present. A control part 18 specifies the object by retrieval from an object database 11 based upon the information regarding the position and direction once those pieces of information are obtained. Then information regarding the object is displayed at, for example, a display part 17. For example, the object can be specified more precisely by using as retrieval conditions information regarding a distance and an elevation angle obtained by a distance information acquisition part 14 and an elevation angle information acquisition part 15 and information on the kind of the object, etc., that the user selects through an operation part 16.
