A brush type applicator with an integral reservoir for liquids, where * the bristles are partially enclosed in a holder (3) of an elastic, moveable outer bonnet (2,2',2), * a valve shell member (4), spring biased against an internal seat (6), is arranged in the container neck (5), * the front end of the bonnet (2) is formed as a sealing lip (9) able to engage an internal shoulder (11) in a screw closure cap (10), which can be fitted when the applicator is not in use. The shoulder stop of the screw closure cap, forces the valve shell member against the seat. The bonnet and valve shell member may be made of rubber or thermoplastic, e.g. polyethylene (LD/TPE). Preferably the outer bonnet (2,2') is formed as a bellows construction.
