The invention concerns detergent and descaling composition tablets comprising compacted sodium tripolyphosphate particles with a high phase I content and water homogeneously distributed in said sodium tripolyphosphate, said tablets being characterised in that said sodium tripolyphosphate present in the tablet or in a region of the tablet contains: 70 % to 100 % wt.%, preferably 80 % to 98 wt.% of phase I relative to all the anhydrous tripolyphosphate phases; 7 % to 16 % of its weight in water, at least 50 %, preferably 70 % to 90 % of said water being in the form of crystallisation water.
