CHARACTER RECOGNIZER AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognizer which can accurately recognize characters with a simple operation when the image data to be recognized are read and the character information contained in the image data are recognized and especially when the character information on the name cards having almost same layouts are recognized and also to provide a control method of the character recognizer. SOLUTION: A character recognition necessary area designation part 6 designates the areas where the characters must be recognized in the image data which are read and shown on a display part 5. Then the designated areas are set as templates and stored in a template storage part 8, and a recognition processing part 11 can recognize the characters included in an area to be recognized in the image data by means of one of stored templates that is selected by a template selection part 9.
