<p>chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: described is water-dispersible polymer which is essential component for coatings having greater corrosion resistance. Water-dispersible polymer is prepared by reacting (a) epoxy compound containing about two epoxy group such as epoxy resin, (b) compound containing conjugated carbon-carbon double bonds or carbon-carbon triple bond and residue capable of reacting with epoxy group such as sorbic acid, and (c) acrylic monomers at least part of which is capable of making polymer water dispersible such as acrylic acid wherein epoxy moiety (a) of polymer is covalently bonded with polymerized acrylic moiety (c) cy means of compound (b). Coating based on compositions comprising water-dispersible polymer have superb flexibility, adhesion to metal substrate and higher corrosion resistance.
