The device cuts disks or bolts from round rods. In includes two cutting rolls with spirals. The spiral (2) of at least one cutting roll (1.1) has a height (10) in the separating sector (TA) which is equal to or slightly larger than the radius (r) of the round rod (5). The spiral of another roll (1.2) has a uniform height reduction towards the end region of the main sector (HA).
