PURPOSE: To control the attitude of a slider in contact with a disk surface by restricting the rotation of the slider in such a manner that a gimbal rotating with the slider jumped from the disk surface is brought into contact with a roof. CONSTITUTION: A constricted part is provided at the tip side of a planar part 12a of a flange part 12, and a pivot 13 and the roof 14 are provided at the tip side. Under this roof 14, the slider 4 is mounted on the tip part of the gimbal 20 by bonding. The thickness of the gimbal is decided by the size of the slider, the height of the pivot is decided by the stability of press working of a thin plate, and the thickness of a load beam is decided from the elastic modulus of a spring part. The slider is supported by a flexible finger part without restricting the movement of the slider in the direction perpendicular to the floating surface of the slider (direction out of the surface). Even though the slider is rotated by the external impact, etc., the slider is prevented from rotating in more than a prescribed angle since the tip of the flexible finger part is brought into contact with the roof 14.
