PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting warp breaking by contacting the upper end of a heald with the upper surface of a top heald rod when warps are cut and automatically stopping a loom when current is passed by contacting the lower end of the heald with the side surface of a lower heald rod is provided, which reduces labor power and warp breaking. CONSTITUTION: This apparatus comprises two heald rods(1a, 1b) of the upper and lower part for hanging a heald(2) on a heald frame, wherein these heald rods use conductive metal, a top heald rod(1a) is coated with an insulating material on both side surfaces and lower surfaces to pass current only on the upper surface(101) but a bottom heald rod(1b) is not coated with the insulating material to pass current on all sides, an upper end(202) of the heald is contacted with the upper surface of the top heald rod and the lower end(203) of the heald with the lower heald rod to detect warp breaking.
