PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rat capturing instrument having high rat capturing ability, capable of disposing of a rat almost without looking at the rat. SOLUTION: A box body which is urged by a spring force of a spring urging means 16, can be folded into an approximately flat rhombic shape, assembled and retained in an approximately square cylindrical state against the spring force and has opening parts 1a and 1b at both ends is formed. The inside of the box body 1 is coated with an adhesive and viewing windows also used for 14 are opened at the upper central part of a side plate part 6 of the box body 1 at both sides of a wall face part 6a with leaving the wall face part. On the other hand, an operation body 19 provided with a bait catching part 21 at the tip and a seizing part 22 at the rear formed by bending a metal wire 20 into an approximately inverted L-shape is arranged. The operation body 19 is laid in the direction perpendicular to the opening direction of the box body in the inside of one side of the roof part of the box body, rotatably and axially supported, the bait catching part 21 at the tip of the operation body 19 is positioned at approximately the center of the box body 1 retained in an approximately square cylindrical state and the seizing part 22 at the rear end is brought into contact with the inner wall face of the center of the box body under pressure and retained.
