PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head slider which suppresses the wear of the edges on a pressure generating surface and minimizes the change of the floating characteristics of the head slider with lapse of time. SOLUTION: The head slider has a slider and a suspension. The slider has an air lubricating surface 30, inflow end 41, outflow end 42, inner peripheral end 43, outer peripheral end 44 and head 99. The air lubricating surface 30 has an upper step surface 31 having a first height for generating a positive pressure and the slider has a central axis 50 imagined in the longitudinal direction of the slider. The upper step surface 31 has the first edge 52 which is formed on an inner peripheral end 43 side with respect to the central axis 50. The first edge 52 is so formed as to exist closer to the outer peripheral end from the inflow end 41 toward the outflow end 42. The first edge 52 is so formed that the angles formed by the tangents defined at all points of the first edge 52 and the central axis 50 are made greater than the absolute value of the skew angle when the slider exists on the innermost periphery on a disk medium.
