PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking controller having stable and high follow-up performance for a track on an optical disk rotating at high speed containing the case that a period of one revolution is changed according to the radius of the optical disk such a CLV system and ZCLV system. SOLUTION: This tracking controller is provided with a tracking error generation means 1 generating a tracking error signal answering to a difference between a track position on the optical disk and a beam spot position emitted from an optical head, control means 2, 3 make the beam spot scan the target track on the optical disk based on a drive signal, a correction signal generation means 5 generating a correction signal based on the tracking error signal before a rotation period of at least one revolution of the optical disk, a pre- compensation means 6 generating a compensation signal compensating the amplitude and the phase of the correction signal and an addition means 7 adding the tracking error signal to the compensation signal and outputting the drive signal.
