The invention relates to welding, in particular to a device for welding by means of a light ray. The inventive is a device which of a body with a hermetic lid. The body is embodied in the form of monolith and contains external and an internal flanges with a convoluted diaphragm between them, a deflector having curvilinear internal and cylindrical outer surfaces and placed inside the body, anode and cathode electrodes maintained by holders and a unit for a simultaneous displacement of electrodes embodied in the form of a cylinder and used for adjusting the arc space in relation to a radiation focus of the deflector. The inventive device comprises a mechanism for moving the cathode along the deflector axis. Said mechanism is embodied in the form of arms and rods, one of which is connected to a limb of a magnet. There is also a separator which is embodied in the form of a socket provided with snake-like slots and placed between a wall of the deflector and the body. The electrode holders are fixed to the cylindrical unit.
