PURPOSE: A starter motor is provided to increase the output of a starter motor by reducing the length of a lead wire connecting a motor with a solenoid switch. CONSTITUTION: A starter motor(6) includes a solenoid core(32) whereon two coils(31) are wound and a solenoid switch assembly(3) consisting of a hook(4) and a lever(5) connecting the hook with a pinion. Herein, the solenoid switch assembly is retractively installed to lengthen a distance(L) between the center of the lever and a front bracket corner(11). Thus, the length of the hook is extended and the installation of the starter motor becomes easy. The length of a lead wire(2) extended from a motor and connected to a solenoid switch is reduced. With the reduced length of the lead wire, resistance is decreased while the output of the starter motor is improved.
