PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of wrinkles or meandering on a wall paper sent by a sending roller and to prevent the generation of the sagging of the wall paper due to the stagnation of the wall paper caused by the vector change by a high tension roller. SOLUTION: In the automatic starching machine for wall paper for feeding the wall paper 2 drawn from the lower side to the upper side of a starching machine main body 1 by inserting between a scaling roller 3 and the sending roller 4 and moving to a starching roller 5 through the high tension roller 8, the sagging due to the stagnation of the wall paper 2 is prevented by arranging the high tension roller 8 so that the transporting passage of the wall paper 2 is almost horizontal in the down stream of the sending roller 4 to suppress the vector change of the force acting to the wall paper 2 and the generation of the wrinkles or the meandering is prevented by forming the contact point 16 of the scaling roller 3 with the sending roller 4 in the almost middle of the contact range of the wall paper 2 to the sending roller 4 and particularly decreasing the winding angle in the downstream side of the contact point 16.
