PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester film laminated steel strip controlling the quality (coating weight or the like) of a plating film in-line in a plating-laminate line or suitable for the control of the mechanical properties of a laminated steel strip. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a polyester film laminated steel strip in which a steel strip is applied with either electrolytic chromium plating or tinning and electrolytic chromate treatment and is thereafter laminated with a polyester film in the same line, a part of the polyester film is laminated on the steel strip instead of a resin film by which its adhesion after lamination reaches 0.03 kg/15 mm to 0.5 kg/15 mm, after the film lamination, the resin film is peeled from the steel strip, the coating weight of chromium hydrated oxide and metallic chromium in the steel strip on the peeled part is measured, and based on the measured value, the operating conditions of the electrolytic chromium plating or electrolytic chromate treatment are controlled.
