PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid leakage detecting sensor reliably detecting a liquid with the specific gravity smaller than that of water with a simple structure and capable of reducing the cost. SOLUTION: This liquid leakage detecting sensor is provided with a main float 1 with the specific gravity smaller than that of water and larger than that of the liquid to be detected, a sub-float 2 with the specific gravity smaller than that of the liquid to be detected and submersibly fitted to the main float 1, and a means converting the floating of the sub-float 2 into an electric signal. The sub-float 2 is installed vertically movably against a guide pipe 3 provided on the main float 1, a magnet 5 is installed on the sub-float 2, and the magnetic sensor such as a reed switch 6 operated by the approach of the magnet 5 is installed on the guide pipe 3. The liquid such as oil with the specific gravity smaller than that of water and accumulated in a drainage pit or the like is detected reliably.
