PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem such that an effective transmission speed is lowered because of the transmission delay of a network itself when a compensation means for transmission errors and omissions by retransmission is used in the network transmission. SOLUTION: This data receiver is provided with a buffer 101 for restoring video and sound data for which the data of respective frames are divided into a plurality of data units, identifiers for the respective frames are attached and also redundant data for error detection are attached, a buffer 102 for outputting the data of the frame directly before the frame restored by the buffer 101, a transmission error/omission detection part 104 for detecting whether an error or an omission is present in the data constituting the video and sound data on the basis of the identifiers and the redundant data and a selector 103 for selecting the data from the buffer 101 and/or the buffer 102 and preparing the frame without data omissions.
