PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a label printer wherein a line thermal head is not caught by overlaid labels even without a head raising mechanism. SOLUTION: A sheet of paper Y carried on a sheet transfer path is printed, numerous labels L are overlaid and stuck on the sheet Y, and the labels L are printed. A mechanism for sticking the labels L is located on a downstream of a print mechanism 16. Sticking and printing of the labels L is alternately performed, and the sheet Y is reciprocated with respect to the print mechanism 16 at this time. In this case, a position of a label L to be stuck to a previously stuck label L is shifted from a position of the latter label L toward an upstream in a sheet transfer direction by a predetermined distance along the sheet transfer direction. Since the uppermost label L at each time thus covers ends closer to the mechanism 16 of all underlying labels L, even if numerous labels L are overlaid, such inconvenience that large difference in height exists at an end of the labels L to come against the print mechanism 16 can be avoided.
