Refrigerator with an air baffle

The motorised baffle is positioned in the air passage between the freezer and fresh food compartments in the refrigerator cabinet. A motor drives a cam which is coupled to the baffle such that rotation of the cam opens or closes the baffle. A thermostat senses temp. in the fresh food compartment and switches energise the motor to operate the baffle as required. The baffle has two sliding plates with apertures through which refrigerated air passes. Both sets of apertures have chamfered edges which form sharp edges on the facing plate surfaces and these edges remove any frost build up when the baffle is opened or closed.
