PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience, when a user allows a portable map display device equipped with a map display function and an electronic address book function to store and preserve town information. SOLUTION: When a user instructs the display of a map around the present position, data communication is conducted between an information center via a portable telephone set, and the present position data, the peripheral map data, and town information data are down-loaded from an information center, and map-displayed at a display part 3. When the user instructs the display of the town information, the information of the pertinent facility or store is displayed on a window screen W. When the data of the facility or the store are desired to be stored and preserved, the user designates registration, so that the data can be registered as address data. The user can freely write memo information as necessary in the address data, and when designating the attachment of the map data of an area where a facility or a store exists, the map data are stored, and the attached map file number is written in the address data so that the user can freely refer to the map data. |
