PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an impurity, such as the moisture existing in a driving chamber from becoming steam and entering into an actuating chamber mixedly with a working medium. SOLUTION: A refrigerating plant is provided with an actuating chamber 23, a driving chamber 12, and a rod seal section 8 which prevents the lubricating oil in the driving chamber 12 from entering into the actuating chamber 23 and generates cold heat by expanding the working medium in the actuating chamber 23 by moving a piston or displacer 6 forward and backward in an expansion cylinder 2. The refrigerating plant is also provided with a cold trap section 31 which is cooled by utilizing the cold heat generated in the actuating chamber 23 and a communicating means 32 which communicates the cold trap section 31 with the driving chamber 31. The communicating means 32 is constituted of a closed-loop communicating means through which the working medium in the driving chamber 12 can be circulated through the trap section 31.
