The invention relates to a method for producing a knitted item from a number of yarns on a knitting machine that is equipped with elements (9 to 16) for setting the mesh size and with yarn feed units (1 to 8) for at least one portion of the yarns. Said yarn feed units are designed for measuring and controlling the yarn tension. In order to control the yarn tension, the speed of the yarns is adapted by a yarn speed pre-setting device. The invention provides that, the control of the yarn speed pre-setting device of a selected yarn feed unit, said control arising from the tension measured on said yarn feed unit, serves as a basis for effecting the control of the yarn speed pre-setting devices of all remaining yarn feed units. The invention also relates to a device and to a yarn feed unit for, in particular, carrying out said method. |
