The invention concerns plant product pick-up baler for forming bales comprising means for picking (1) plant products (14), a compressing device (5, 6, 13) co-operating with a baling unit (11) having an opening (11A), and supplying means (2, 3, 4) for supplying collected plant products (14) to said compressing device (5, 6, 13). Said compressing device (5, 6, 13) consists of a drive hub (5) driven, in operation, in a rotating movement about its longitudinal axis (5A) and comprising at least an end shield (7) or radiating arm supporting at least a roller (6) with longitudinal axis (6A) substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis (5A) of said drive hub (5). Said roller(s) (6A) constitute one/several satellite(s) rotating about its/their respective longitudinal axis (6A) to act by compression on the plant products (14) supplied to said satellite roller(s) (6). In the inventive plant product baler, the compressing device (5, 6, 13) extends in front of the opening (11A) of the baling unit (11), the longitudinal axis (5A) of the drive hub (5) extends substantially horizontally, and, viewed from the longitudinal axis (5A) of the drive hub (5), said satellite roller(s) (6) rotate(s), at least at the opening (11A) of the baling unit (11), in a direction opposite (C) to the rotating direction (B) of the drive hub (5). |
