PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas compressor capable of actually displaying performance equivalent to one obtained when testing it. SOLUTION: A piston and a cylinder are disposed in a container having an opening part. The fixed side member of either one of the piston or the cylinder is fixed to the container. One end of an elastic member is combined with the container, and the other end is combined with the movable side member of either the piston or the cylinder which is not fixed to the container. The elastic member restricts a displacement of the movable member perpendicular to the cylinder axis of the movable member, and allows a displacement in the axial direction of the cylinder. A means of driving reciprocates the movable member in the axial direction of the cylinder. A lid airtightly covers the opening part of the container.
