PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for decreasing the volume of a waste bag which is capable of decreasing the volume of a waste bag into which bulky waste is gotten by compressing the waste bag safely and sanitarily, deaerating the air in the bag, winding up the mouth of the bag automatically and sealing the same. SOLUTION: This apparatus for decreasing the volume of a waste bag compresses the bulky waste such as a packing paper stored in the waste bag 80 between a fixed upper table 30 and an elevating lower table 20, at the same time, the mouth of the bag 82 is interposed between a driving roll 90 which is disposed on the upper table 30 and a touch roll 95 which is shorter than the mouth 82 of the bag which is in contact with the driving roll 90, rotated, wound up automatically and the waste bag 80 is sealed thereafter.
