PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a gap between a belt and a dam block in a twin belt type continuous caster, in which the gap between the belt and the dam block is controlled to a suitable amount so as not to generate the burr of a cast block caused by the insertion of molten metal into the gap. SOLUTION: An instrument for detecting the burr at the corner part of the cast block, is arranged at the rear part of the caster constituted with the driven upper and lower belts and the dam blocks at the right and the left sides disposed in parallel so as to interpose with these belts. A signal from this instrument is made to feedback into a control unit in a gap adjusting mechanism of the belts at the upper and the lower parts to adjust the gap between the upper and the lower belts and the right and the left dam blocks. The gap between the upper and the lower belts, is measured with the measuring instrument and can be interlocked so as not to become smaller that the setting gap amount.
