PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arithmetic processing unit for a game machine reducing the waste of external I/O selection signals and the waste of external I/O selection signal output pins while considering flexibility. SOLUTION: This arithmetic processing unit can be selected for use to a first external I/0 control mode (CS mode) capable of outputting N selection signals or a second external I/0 control mode (ECS mode) capable of outputting (N+X) selection signals based on the prescribed mode specification signal (CS /ECS signal). M selection signals at maximum can be obtained by externally decoding X selection signals in the ECS mode.
