PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous ceramic in which the moving speed of a coating liquid is sufficiently large, thereby a coating liquid having relatively low viscosity can be used, and which has a structure capable of coating a certain amount of the coating liquid for a long period of time even under a heavy load condition, and also provide a method of producing the same, a member of the ceramic for holding the coating liquid and a device for coating the coating liquid. SOLUTION: This porous ceramic is formed of a refractory inorganic material which has void with small diameters and pores at its inside. In the porous ceramic, at least a portion of the voids having small diameters communicates with the surface of the ceramic and the pores, and the volume of >=40% of the total void volume is composed of the fine holes having diameters of 30 to 200μm. Further, at least a portion of the pores communicates with the surface of the porous ceramic through the above voids having small diameters and the average pore diameter is in the range of 200 to 2,000μm. |
