PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for preliminarily predicting whether or not conversion abnormality is caused when converting page description data expressed in page description language into raster data. SOLUTION: A resource name list RL1 of page description data is prepared, based on the page description data PD. Also, the resource name list RL2 of an RIP resource stored in a storage part 51 to be used when the page description data PD are converted into the raster data RD by an RIP part 16 is prepared. Then, the two resource name lists are compared by a check part 14, and when any defect is caused in the RIP resource, it is predicted that any conversion abnormality is likely to be caused, and an operator is informed of the result.
