The invention relates to self-ventilated brake resistors (4) for electric vehicles, notably rail vehicles and electric buses having self-ventilated brake resistors (4) mounted in the underfloor area. Said brake resistors (4) are arranged in at least one housing (1) in a substantially trapeze-like manner and the housing comprises at least one inlet orifice and one outlet orifice for a coolant.
