PURPOSE: An apparatus for modifying a program of an exchange is provided to modify a firmware in an exchange by providing an MMC(Man Machine Command) to the exchange through the manipulation of a user terminal. CONSTITUTION: An exchange(4) connected with an operator terminal(2) consists of a CCS(Central Control Subsystem)(6), an ASS(Access Switching Subsystem)(14) and an INS(Interconnection Network Subsystem)(18). The CCS(6) is provided with an EC(Execution Control) part(8), an SL(System Loader)(10) and an OC(Output Control) part(12). The ASS(14) comprises a TPL(Telephony Processor Loader)(16). The INS(18) comprises a TPL(20). The SL(10) analyzes a specific MMC supplied from the operator terminal(2) through the EC part(8) and provides it to each TPL(16,20). Also the SL(10) receives the previous command execution results from the TPLs(16,20) and outputs to the operator terminal(2) through the OC part(12) so that they can be displayed on the screen. The TPLs(16,20), if an MMC analysis result provided from the SL(10) is a firmware modification request, modify the firmwares installed in the flash memories of device controllers respectively installed in the ASS(14) and the INS(18) and notify the SL(10) of their respective execution results.
