Plants comprising elite event IR-ZM2 combine insect resistance with optimal agronomic performance. Methods and compositions relating to IR-ZM2 are disclosed, including methods to identify plants, plant material or products containing plant material, comprising the elite event. The insertion region of IR-ZM2 is disclosed as being particularly suited for the insertion of a transgene, particularly an insect resistance gene.
