PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image quality deterioration in an intermediate period from the state of the aperture being wide open to that of being slightly open. SOLUTION: As to this image pickup device having an exposure control mechanism 1 in which a aperture 29 is formed by the movement of a stop blade on a surface orthogonally crossing with an optical axis; the exposure control mechanism has a first stop blade 2 to which an ND filter 5 having at least two or more steps of transmissivity is attached, a second stop blade 3 to which the ND filter 6 is not attached, and a third stop blade 4 to which the ND filter 6 having single transmissivity is attached, the displacement amount and the phase of the first and the third stop blades are respectively different from each other in accordance with the operation of a driving means 7.
