The clutch release bearing for a motor vehicle has a roller race (1) mounted in a shaft head (2) having a tubular section (3) sliding axially on a guide tube (4) and a radial surface (5) to receive an engagement face of a control spider (19) with fingers contacting the head on both sides. The axial tubular section of the head has two parallel planar faces (25) to co-operate with the fingers. Axial retaining tongues (36,37) are positioned asymmetrically and offset to contact the control spider and shaft head.
