A continuously variable adjustable vehicle gearbox (1) has a variator (2-23), e.g. a friction wheel gearbox or a cone disc-belt gearbox, for the continuous transmission adjustment and a multi-stage shifting gearbox (4) with at least one input and one output shaft (7,8), plus at least two forward gears and at least one backward gear. In the multi-stage shifting gearbox, a reversal of rotation direction takes place by the forward gears between the input and output shaft. The backward gear(s) is/are designed without rotation direction reversal between the input and output shafts. As a variator, especially a cone disc-belt gearbox or a two-stage friction wheel gearbox is provided.
