PURPOSE: A compressor protection apparatus for vehicle air conditioner is provided to achieve an improved protection for compressor by controlling the operation of the compressor in accordance with the temperature sensed by a temperature sensor mounted to a vacuum pipe. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerant circuit includes a compressor, a condenser, a receiver dryer, and an evaporator(8) mounted to the receiver dryer and connected to the compressor. A temperature sensor(2) for sensing the temperature of the surface of a vacuum pipe(1) is mounted to the vacuum pipe. The temperature sensor is connected to a logic unit(3) which operates a control unit(5) through a driver(4) in accordance with the result of comparison between the sensed value from the temperature sensor and the preset value. The control unit operates a two-stage relay(6) so as to control an on/off switch(7) of the compressor, and at the same time an auxiliary heater(9) mounted to the evaporator.
